Who can use Azure Artifact Signing
Azure Artifact Signing (formerly Trusted Signing) is Microsoft's own signing service: $9.99 a month for Basic (5,000 signatures, then half a cent each), $99.99 for Premium. No token, no certificate to renew, and it works from CI.
Who can buy it. Organizations in the US, Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway and Israel. Individuals only in the US and Canada. Everyone needs a paid Azure subscription; free and trial subscriptions don't qualify.
What goes wrong in identity validation:
- The verification email's link expires after seven days and can't be resent: you start a new request.
- If Microsoft asks for documents, you get three attempts; after that, onboarding for that entity ends.
- Individuals: the legal name and sold-to address on the Azure billing account must match your government ID exactly, and you verify with Microsoft Authenticator, including a face check.
- The certificate shows your validated legal name; no custom name.
- Validation expires. If you don't renew it, signing stops.
Signed files still build SmartScreen reputation over time, as with any certificate.
